What is CREDO Action
CREDO Action is the action arm of CREDO Mobile. We engage our over 3 million members in activism on a wide variety of issues, including financial reform, environmental protection, food policy, protecting a woman's right to choose, and more (visit us at www.credoaction.com or facebook.com/CREDO).
What is CREDO Grassroots Action?
CREDO Grassroots Action is a new project that allows you to start and run your own campaigns, with the technology you need right at your fingertips.
We’re offering this platform to CREDO Action members to enact change at the local and national level by providing you with the tools to start, run, and deliver your own campaigns.
Who can run a campaign?
Right now, we're still in the trial phase, with a small group of users able to test things out, give feedback and help us refine the site further as we bring new tools online. If you haven't been personally invited to create your own campaign on the website, then we're sorry, but you'll have to hold tight for now.
What can't I campaign on? If it's on this website, does that mean CREDO Action endorses or agrees with my campaign?
While CREDO Action has provided this platform for you to use, campaigns here are not necessarily run or endorsed by CREDO Action. In fact, as the community of users grows, we expect we'll probably see campaigns we don't agree with and campaigns that might seem a bit random. But we will work hard to disable campaigns that come to our attention and are defamatory, discriminatory or illegal.
We reserve the right to use our judgment and take something down if we deem it inappropriate or if it crosses a line of common decency even if we share your position on that issue. So take responsibility for your campaign.
How does Do CREDO Action decide which campaigns go on the homepage?
A number of factors contribute to what campaigns are highlighted on the homepage. These include campaigns that are on the edge of winning, campaigns that have shown rapid growth and campaigns that are particularly timely.
Can I contact people who sign my petition?
Who controls the data on the site?
While you are able to email your supporters through the website, privacy laws prevent us from sharing your supporters' email addresses with you. The data collected on and through the site will remain the property of CREDO Action.
Besides starting a petition, what else can I do in my campaign?
On CREDO Grassroots Action, you can start a petition, share it with your network and communicate further with your supporters via email.
CREDO Grassroots Action also helps you take your campaign to the street. For instance, you can download a blank copy of your petition, collect signatures in person and then enter your data easily into the system. You can also download a finished copy of your petition to print and deliver to your target.
You can access all of these features from the manage page.
This is a tool that allows anyone, anywhere to take a campaign from start to finish. When starting a campaign the most important step is to get the ball rolling -- don't worry about getting everything 100% right. Even experienced, professional campaigners make mistakes and often change as things develop. You don't need to be an expert to launch a campaign, you just need to be willing to learn new things along the way.
Can I cancel my petition?
Yes. When you first created your petition, you received an email from firstname.lastname@example.org with the link to manage your petition. Go to 'manage' and click on the 'hide' button. Your petition will now no longer be visible to the public.
How can I make my campaign better?
There are many different tactics that can help make a campaign more effective and get the word out, from keeping people engaged on social media to hosting your very own press conference to spread the word in your local community!
How will signing petitions make a difference
Petitions provide a useful snapshot of the level of public support for an issue and put forward a list of people who all share a common commitment or concern. And they don't always need a big number to make a big impact -- think about a local issue where a petition of 20 neighbors on one street would require someone to sit up and take notice.
Petitions can be the catalyst for conversations that change how people think: conversations with your friends, family, colleagues, neighbors, church group, school, fellow consumers, local club, political representative or business leader. It's most effective when you make a point of delivering your petition to your target in a personal, high-profile or creative way, explaining why supporters feel the way they do. But it probably won't do much if you just start a petition and walk away.
As our site develops further, we'll also be adding other features to help you create change and win your campaign.
I no longer wish to receive updates on a campaign I signed up to. How do I unsubscribe?
It's sad to see you go, but you can unsubscribe by clicking the 'unsubscribe' link in the email.
